CREMONA

The city of the three T’s: the exquisite nougat, the imposing Torrazzo and … various folkloristic versions of the meaning of the third T.

Regardless of the interpretations, Cremona offers architectural, artistic and cultural wonders to be discovered, such as the Stradivarian Museum with centenary violins, tuned daily and, on request, also played by expert conservators, the medieval Palazzo Comunale, the Duomo and the adjacent Baptistery and then,… the Torrazzo: the tallest historical bell tower in Italy, reachable through 502 steps.

Although its name suggests a tower, the Torrazzo in Crema is a monumental gate that divides Piazza Duomo from Via XX Settembre.

This gate, built to replace a more modest entrance to defend the primitive citadel, presents the stylistic characteristics of Lombard Renaissance architecture of the early sixteenth century with some references to the late fifteenth century in the terracotta references.

Cheered by the violins, munching on a piece of nougat, surrounded by a medieval atmosphere and overlooking the Po, your tour in Cremona will certainly be unparalleled.
